Madam LaLaurie liked to torture and perform gruesome experiments on her slaves.
The most disturbing accounts are the caterpillar lady who had her limbs
amputated and then had circles of skin removed so that she looked and moved
like a large caterpillar.
The crab woman was a person who had her arms and legs broken
and then kept in a cage while they grew back and set at odd angles so that she
moved and looked like a crab.
